Working At Home
Working at home – what an awesome idea! You invest a few bucks in that really cheap recording equipment, you find an empty corner of a room – or if you really want to go crazy, an entirely empty room – you build a little home studio, and shazam – Hits ‘R Us! No more paying for studio time. No more swearing at the traffic in L.A. or trying to find a cab at 3 a.m. in New York – or worse, riding the subway. Working whenever you want, all day, all night…nirvana. Right? Right??
So what if the dogs bark every time someone walks in? It’s a small price to pay. Okay, so your kids are constantly running into the studio asking for something crazy like lunch….big deal. So you’re a host and waiter and maid for everyone you work with – “Oh you wanted vanilla in your coffee? So sorry…”; just make sure you have plenty of 409 on hand to clean up the food and soda and whatever stains. So the FedEx guy is banging on the front door, and the gardeners are revving their mowers like the Indy 500, and the bed in your room is calling out to you like a siren…. “Come visit me, just for a minute…you need a break…I’m sooo comfortable and you’re soooo tired…” It’s all good, right?? You get to work at home!!! And you never have to stop, because it’s your studio!!
Hey – I’d like to write more, but the dogs are barking and the FedEx guy is ringing the doorbell and…you get it.
